First, I must tell you a little about the family. Mom aka Nana, will be 80 in April. Dad aka Papa just turned 86 in October, and my brother will remain younger then I am. We did have a weiner dog growing up by the name of Kimmel Rye. He was named after the bread at Stein's Bakery.
Now that you have and idea of who is who....Here's a snapshot of Sunday..
My mom calls me to ask Phil ( who I reside with) and I over for dinner. While on phone she lets me know that my brother who came down on Saturday, told her about the blog.Naturally I ask what she thinks. Her immediate response is that she never cornered me in the bathroom and that she wants to authorize what I write about her. Of course I am laughing because she is making fun of me but I let it go until I see her at dinner
We make it over to their house, have dinner and start talking about the blog.My brother thinks it is an awesome idea, and will follow it daily. My mom says she never had any conversations in the bathroom with me. I have to remind her perhaps she is a little senile, which she denies laughing.
At that point, I remind her of the time I was sitting on the toilet seat cover while she was doing something in the mirror. She, my dad,and my brother had just returned from Aruba. I had chosen not to go and stay home to be with my boyfriend. At this particular moment Mom's intuition kicks in and she gives me a lecture. ''Terri, why would anyone buy a cow if the can get the milk for free?"
I am like what????.I am 17 and it takes a few minutes for it to register what she is getting at.She is telling me she knows I slept with my boyfriend while she was gone... and Yes I did... Now how could she possibly have blocked that lecture from her mind.We did go over a few other classic lectures which of course she did not recall and I will post about.
As we got ready to leave my brother lounged on the sofa, and announced that he wanted that particular piece. He and I always discuss what we want to be left so my parents know. It is quite humorous and true to always having a sense of levity to get us through.
We had everyone smiling and then he left for LA and we headed for our house, leaving my parents shaking their heads I am sure.
